$5,000 in 5 months or less (Start Here)

3 Things you need to do before you begin planning

Everybody wants to know how to plan a wedding for less than $5,000 in under 5 months, but there are a few important things that need to be taken care of before you can even get to that point! The following are the three things we will cover in the 5-k starter course:

  • SET A DATE

This is very important if you want to make sure you stay at the 5k range or below. If you do not set a wedding date, you will most likely be unorganized and unable to stay on top of planning. This date is going to determine the season for your wedding, the location, the available vendors (if you hire any) and the ability for you to be able to create deadlines to stay at or under 5 months of planning.

  • SEAL THE BUDGET

This course is for those who have a desire to plan a wedding with a budget of 5k or less. So, by sealing the budget, you are saying to yourself "$5,000 is what I will spend and not a cent over." If your budget is more than 5k, then you can check out my general wedding planning course here (which will provide you with useful step by step planning information that you can use to plan without hiring a wedding planner.

  • ESTABLISH A THEME

A wedding theme is simply the "style" you choose to project on your wedding day. Your theme can simply be a set of colors, or it can be a label like country themed, beach-themed, romantic-themed, gothic-themed, rustic-themed etc. It is whatever you'd like. If you love feathers and birds....by all means, be my guest and have a feather and bird themed wedding :)

Nefertiti Exposé
Nefertiti Exposé

Nefertiti here,

When I started planning my wedding, I had no time, barely any money and no idea where to start. I felt so overwhelmed, that I spend 3-4 months after I got engaged doing absolutely nothing. At the time, I really wished there was someone that could just sit down with me and at least help me get the ball rolling on how to plan a low-budget wedding by myself. While that's what wedding planners are for, I for certain, knew that I couldn't afford one.

I got engaged in June and right around the end of September that same year- the pressure was on! I had less than 5 months to plan a wedding with little to no money and barely any consistent, useful help.

With that being said, I eventually told my husband that I didn't think we should have a wedding anymore and that we should just go to the courthouse and call it a day. Thankfully, he quickly talked me out of that, letting me know i'd most likely regret that decision. He literally told me to get my thoughts together and use the planning skills that I exercise everyday while being a teacher; and plan the wedding on my own. So, I did and that was the best decision I had ever made.

Long story short, I took a leap of faith and came to the quick realization that I did not need to be pressured by traditions and do things the way someone else out there said it needed be done. I ended up borrowing some money from family, using some extra cash from work and planning a low-budget DIY, inspired non-traditional wedding. This wedding ended up being everything I dreamed of and more; not to mention it turned out like a 20-k lookalike.

This is a real photo from my day:

You might be thinking,

GEE WIZ you're not some wedding expert just because you planned a wedding and had a nice day.

Well you're probably right. However, I did spend 12 months doing intensive research on how to plan a wedding, I added myself to over 30 facebook wedding planning groups and tested my knowledge with other brides. Before I knew it, my inbox was flooded with messages, my posts were drowned with comments and so many questions I couldn't answer them all. Brides were literally asking for my phone number to pick me brain, I received over 70 signups for my weekly email newsletter and brides just like you were BEGGING to find out how I pulled it off. At that point, I knew I learned enough to be able to help future brides EVERYWHERE- which makes me somewhat of an expert. But, I did not stop there. I spent weeks building up boards on Pinterest with categories that target a specific type of wedding style. I spent months organizing my information so that I could post weekly blogs and send out weekly email newsletters. I've spent days upon days with wedding vendors at wedding expos to figure out what information brides are really looking for. And lastly, you're here because I spent an eternity putting together a clear and organized 7 part, step-by-step course to specifically teach brides HOW TO PLAN A WEDDING FOR 5K or less!

Our original budget was set not to exceed $8,000. However, with all the DIY projects, coupons, sales and research, I was able to plan for less than $5,000 in just under 5 months. It is totally possible and I know you'll be able to do the same!

Don't waste time and be sure to grab the FREE starter course and purchase the rest so you can plan your low-budget wedding in an exciting and stress free way just like I did. I am so excited for you on this amazing journey!

Cheers,
